Being independent from any brewery, we stock a huge range of products – far more than the average pub. We aim to be THE BEST in every product category – real ales, lagers (or ‘world beers’), ciders, vodkas …….
Real Ales
We are recognised as real ale experts and we have a huge range of real  ales going through the 9 hand-pumps in the main bar and 2 in the Function Room.
We deal almost exclusively with real ales from small independent micro and family breweries, rather than the national brewers. We are Associate Members of SIBA, the Society of Independent Brewers. We have long-standing links, which means we can get hold of virtually any beer brewed in the United Kingdom and Ireland! We have a few regular beers and  many, many guests.

We stock a mild ale on a guest basis, along with an astronomical range of bitters from all over the UK.
As well as bitters and milds, we have, as guests, real lagers (like Harviestoun Schiehallion) and real stouts (like the utterly-glorious O’Hanlon’s Port Stout – from Devon, not Ireland!)
We are regarded by many as THE BEST real ale pub in the area, for quality, variety and rarity of ales on offer.
Lagers (World beers)
We have one of the largest range of draught lagers (or quality world beers) in town! We sell:

Kronenbourg originally from France
San Miguel from Spain

Fosters
We also stock a very large range of bottled lagers and world beers; interestingly, our biggest-selling lines are the quality beers like Budweiser Budvar, Warsteiner and Chimay, rather than the bland products usually available in British pubs.
Stout
We stock Guinness and wish it was Dublin-brewed rather than London-brewed! However, we still have the reputation of selling the best Guinness around.
Ciders
Our main draught ciders come from Westons of Much Marcle in deepest Herefordshire. They produce a wide range of draught and bottled ciders and perries (pear cider) the traditional way. Sometimes, people don’t like real ciders at first, if they have been used to the bland products of the national cider companies. That is because real ciders and perries actually TASTE of apples and pears!
Our regular hand-pumped real draught Westons ciders are the award-winning ‘Old Rosie’ (ABV 7.3%, so watch out!), Vintage and Herefordshire Perry .
We also sell Westons’ keg cider – ‘Stowford Press’, which is also very flavoursome.
Wines and spirits
We have quality house wines from France which sell extremely well. We are also building our offer of higher-quality world wines.
 As well as regular spirits, we offer a large range of the most popular types – particularly vodkas and rums. We stock up to 50 types of vodka from eastern Europe and up to 10 rums, from the Caribean.
Of course, like everyone else, we stock alcopops, but they are not our favourite products.
Soft drinks and non-alcoholic
Soft drinks are really important in a pub but are often ignored by retailers, who assume offering tonic and orange is good enough. Well, it isn’t!
As well as the regular softs you would expect, we stock a large range of excellent fruit juices called ‘Looza’ from Belgium, with lovely flavours like  pear, banana, apricot, grape, mango, passion fruit and peach. We stock Fentimens quality ginger beer and other softs
We stock a range of mixed fruit drinks and diet fruit drinks from Hartridges.
Our water is the BEST – Harrogate Spa from Yorkshire, winner of a best bottled water in the world contest.
For drivers, we have Bitburger ‘Drive’ – a properly-brewed non-alcoholic lager from Germany that tastes really good (unlike some!). |
