| About Us Details Address: 36 Lime Street Newcastle upon Tyne Tyne & Wear NE1 2PQ Tel: 0191 230 4474 Email: cluny@theheadofsteam.co.uk Manager: Julian Ive The Cluny has its own website, with full gig listings, menu information, gig photos and much more! You can find it at www.thecluny.com Where are we? The Cluny and Cluny 2 are, admittedly, not the easiest places to find. We're located on Lime Street, in the Ouseburn Valley, directly under Byker Bridge, about a mile from Newcastle's Monument. Our outlet is part of a large old whisky bottling plant, now home to many of the North East's top arts and crafts people. It is an area rich in industrial heritage, with Ouseburn Farm right next door. There are boats on the Ouseburn, which runs into the Tyne half a mile south. It's a fascinating area and the Ouseburn Trust organises popular walking tours of the valley. How to get there To see a map of our location, click here Bus: 12, 22, 39, 40, 62, 63 all stop on New Bridge Street - get off at the stop closest to the Tanners pub, and walk down Stepney Bank. The Q2 Quaylink bus also now serves the Ouseburn Valley, stopping on Byker Bank. Metro: We are pretty much directly between Manors and Byker Metro stations. It's easier to find us from Manors, but both stations are short walks. See the map above for details. For more information on local transport please call Traveline on 0871 200 2233 - lines are open weekdays from 7am to 9pm. A bit about the outlet The outlet opened for the first time in 1999. The Head Of Steam Ltd took over in November 2002, and it has since built a reputation as a great bar and top live music venue. It has: - a large comfortable (but clearly ex-industrial) main L-shaped bar; - a 300 person capacity function room with bar, on two levels, with a raised stage. This is a major live music venue and it is also regularly hired out for weddings, parties and meetings; - a gallery, with comfortable settees, which is part of Newcastle's art scene; - a new(ish) theatre-style, second venue called Cluny 2, which is 160 capacity and perfect for intimate gigs, comedy nights, theatre productions and much more! Opening hours Monday to Thursday: 12.00 - 23.00 Friday + Saturday: 12.00 - 00.00 Sunday: 12.00 - 22.30
