A bit about the outlet The Head Of Steam is just across from Newcastle Central railway station. It has a unique layout - the 2 bars are on the first floor and in the basement! No bar on the ground floor - only the toilets, beer cellar and offices.
The pub has constant acclaim as one of the best bars in the city. It plays up-to-the-minute music and is recognised for its musical brilliance. The upstairs bar is dark and cosy with a very welcoming feel. The bar gets very crowded most nights and the atmosphere is fantastic
The basement bar is vaulted and low-ceilinged. It has a small stage for bands and this is the 'entry level' venue for new bands in the area - we've been on the glide path of Arctic Monkeys, Maximo Park, Futureheads and many more! It is one of very few cellar bars in the city. The basement is open until 3am on Friday and Saturday nights with popular DJs (and it's free entry!) Opening hours Monday to Thursday: 16.00 - 02.00 Friday + Saturday: 12.00 - 03.00 Sunday: 15.00 - 02.00
